Chica Bomb

My new favorite music video. (Not necessarily for the reasons you might think, although they certainly help.)

Pixels

Keeping with the theme from yesterday of great videos that are short and sweet, but still show what a person can really do, here is another video. This one plays up the nerd factor more so than yesterday's, but is still really well made. Maybe even more so than yesterday's.

Panic Attack

My hope for when I graduate is to be able to produce something like this video. It's nothing extraordinarily amazing, but it shows what someone can do without a big studio. If I can produce something short and sweet like this, I won't have to worry about finding a job. My work will speak for itself and get me hired.

The Final Countdown, Winter 2010

With the end of today came the end of Week 10 for the Winter Quarter and the realization that there is only one week left until Spring Break. I know this sounds like it should be cause for celebration, but this unfortunately means one last week of absolutely hell as I try to finish up my final projects in time, and to standards with which I am happy. Week 11 means little to no sleep, no free time, high stress, and constant doubting of my talents/creativity.

This is it; only one week to go until freedom. Cue music by Europe.

A Letter to Lady Gaga, Part III

Dear Lady Gaga,

This will be the last letter I will write to you, because I've given up. After seeing your latest video for "Telephone", I have come to conclusion that you are just ridiculous. From now on, I will only listen to your music, and will try at all costs to avoid seeing anything with you in it: pictures, videos, etc.

As an entertainer, you're supposed to entertain. Simple enough, but all you do is cause my blood pressure to rise with your absurdity. I know you have your fans, (though only God knows why...) but I simply do not see the appeal. I'm all for being trendy, avant garde, larger than life, etc., but you've surpassed all that and simply become a caricature.

Farewell,
Jason Rico

P.S. For those who would like to see her video, here it is:

Making Something Good Out of Something Bad

Celebrities throw tantrums. That's no surprise. So, when Christian Bale threw his a while back while on the set of Terminator Salvation, I wasn't too surprised. Especially since I'm a fan of his and know he can be very intense. Very intense. This is the guy that almost starved himself preparing for his role in The Machinist. I was not at all shocked to hear that his intensity got the better of him. Still, we all blow up at some point; it happens.

That's not to say that his blow up wasn't bad. Let's be honest; he was a dick of epic proportions. On the one hand, it was slightly entertaining listening to him go crazy, but on the other, it was kind of uncomfortable listening to this trainwreck of an actor digging into some poor crew member. If only there was a way to enjoy listening to it without experiencing any of the awkwardness.

Well, now there is! Introducing "Bale Out" by RevoLucian!

This may very well be my new favorite song. And the best part is that Bale himself approves! Who says something good can't come out of something bad?

Let's Make a Music Video!

There comes a point in a man's life when he has to make a decision. Will he continue on the path his life is on now, or will he explore the road less-traveled and make a music video?

Well, I looked deep into my soul and decided to make a music video. Why would I choose such a difficult path, you might ask? Simple: it would be awesome. I'm not talking about making some high budget video worthy of being shown on MTV 7, or whatever the hell version of MTV they actually show music videos on these days. No, I just want to make something fun and maybe catchy. Something like..... this:

Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about! Doesn't that look like fun? Keep an eye out, because I'm about to blow up on YouTube.

Major Lazer's "Keep It Goin' Louder"

I love cartoons. I have to; I'm an animator. I'm almost positive that it's some sort of an animator law. And as an adult that loves cartoon, I of course watch the shows on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. That's a no brainer.

Well, most of them, anyway. There are some shows on Adult Swim that I find so mind-numbingly dumb, that they're like torture to watch all the way through. At the top of that list is Tom and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! I think that show is just ridiculous and I have never been able to watch an entire episode. Some people love it, and I can respect that, but I think it's just stupid.

That said, I have to admit that I think the music video for Major Lazer's "Keep It Goin' Louder" is kind of funny, considering that it's directed by Eric Wareheim; one half of the comedy duo responsible for Tom and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!

It's the same sort of humor and graphics as the show, but somehow it works a lot better as a singular music video than it does as an actual TV series. Check it out and let me know what you think.
